The five scripts in this volume are:

• The two-parter Surprise and Innocence, in which Buffy's ex-boyfriend becomes her worst enemy
• Phases, in which Willow discovers that Oz is a werewolf.
• Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered, in which a spell gone wrong causes all the women of Sunnydale to fall in love with Xander
• Passion, in which Angelus murders Jenny to prevent her restoring his soul

The book contains additional dialogue cut from the finished show for length, plus inside jokes and production notes.
