Contradictions

The story of how Spike killed his second Slayer in Pretty Maids all in a Row ended up being contradicted by the episode Fool for Love. Is it frustrating when your continuity gets contradicted?

They do that stuff all the time, but that was the biggest example. I think that producer Tim Minear knew that they were going to do that, even though he works on Angel not Buffy.

We were on this panel together on a convention in Atlanta and the fans had asked him about what he thought about continuity regarding the books and the comic books.

He said, and rightly so, that, "theres never going to come a day when were going to take two seconds to worry about the continuity with the books or the comic books". We had been talking about Spike and Dru at that time.

I received this script for that episode months after I had turned in the book and it did pique me a little bit. I dont expect them to follow me, but I wish Id known, it would have been nice to know that.

I do have a solution. As soon as Im able to in print, Im going to have to mention that the Council was so humiliated by the events of the Spike and Dru novel that they cast a spell that erased the memory of those events from everyone involved including Spike. That will explain why nobody remembers. Like everybody says, hes only killed two Slayers, but the truth is hes killed three.
