Episode Guide  |  Season Three
Green-Eyed Monster

Feelings run high when Talyn is trapped deep in a moon-sized alien's gullet.

CraisWritten by Ben Browder
Directed by Tony Tilse

Talyn with Crais, Aeryn and one of the Crichtons - gets eaten by the eponymous (large) alien. Stuck inside it, they play politics and deal with relationship problems as they attempt escape.

Spot the writer. This is Ben Browder aka Crichtons view of Farscape, his idea of what the show should be like. Its a refreshingly good one as he avoids the temptation to increase his own role. Moreover, he's found a way to focus pressure on the core relationships of the show and in pressing on them all also develop them further.

Perhaps he played up the standard form of Crichtons Earth references with overt nods to Star Wars, not just in the basic plot of being eaten like this but in Crichtons "Thats no moon" dialogue before it.

But the title was the real clue to this episode: true, the monster had green eyes but this was really about raging jealousy. The SF elements were not important - all the business of being eaten and the remarkably simple resolution to that problem were just the frame for a much more intensely personal story. And it worked very well, too.
