FARSCAPE: PREMIERE
By Rockne S O'Bannon
Directed by Andrew Prouse

REVIEW
Yes, you can point to obvious influences from other SF series, but what Farscape pulls off better than any of them is Crichton's isolation. At the end and even when he first meets the aliens on Moya we do feel how completely cut off and on his own he is. Buck Rogers didn't manage that, we never cared where he came from, and Star Trek: Voyager wasn't remotely as satisfying.

It's a pity that there was so much backstory to get over in this opening episode - or that O'Bannon wasn't willing to eke it out over many stories - but we've done that now, we understand what's happening. It's going to be fun seeing where the show can go next.

back to ploton to did you notice?

Commander John Crichton
