Spirits haunt a hospital that sits upon the site of a tragic mill fire.

One hundred and fifty years after a fire destroyed Gates Falls Mills - a nightmarish place where men, women, and children toiled under harsh conditions to produce uniforms for the Union Army - the site is now home to the state-of-the-art medical care facility, Kingdom Hospital. And in the wake of the tragedy, many believe that the spirits of the children who didn't survive the blaze now haunt the hospital grounds.
When celebrated artist Peter Rickman is struck and left for dead by hit-and-run driver, Dr. Hook, a brilliant surgeon who lives in the basement where he secretly chronicles evidence of malpractice and negligence, musters all his skills in order to save him. Yet, only a few at Kingdom realize that dark forces - including the ghost of a young girl who died in the fire, and the Antubis, a strange anteater-like beast that originally appeared to Peter though one of his paintings - are conspiring to see that he survives, too.
Arriving at the hospital in a coma, Peter is haunted by visions of Mary and Antubis as Hook and the staff struggle to save him. Despite efforts by the administration to keep her in the dark, Peter's wife, Natalie, hurries to be at his side. Meanwhile, Mrs. Druse, a self-proclaimed psychic, hypochondriac, and longtime believer in the hospital's supernatural side, arrives intent on holding a sance in the hospital's ward for terminal patients.
With the search for the hit-and-run driver continuing, all Natalie can do is hope for the best against what seem like insurmountable odds. As Hook goes head to head with the hospital's Chief of Neurology, Dr. Stegman, and Mrs. Druse prepares to square off against the demons that she sees lurking everywhere, Peter shows signs of a recovery that is nothing short of miraculous. But as Peter emerges from their dream-like encounter, the Antubis reminds him that there is a price to pay for his life being spared.
