With Officer Sol going into seizures at the riot following Reverend Jimmy's resurrection, Hook notices a pattern that connects them to Schwarzton's black noise phenomenon. As Hook struggles to curb Sol's attacks and Mrs. Druse tries contacting Mary, Brenda talks Stegman into a weekend in Salem.
But when Brenda first seeks to destroy evidence of mistakes in the Klingerman case, Hook sends Elmer to the records' library, too.
Killing the hospital librarian allows Dr. Gottreich and Paul to plant documents incriminating Stegman. So, by the time Brenda arrives, Elmer gets the evidence he needs - as well as a disturbing look at his own autopsy report. Meanwhile, as Bobby discovers the librarian's corpse, visions continue to plague Stegman at his hearing.
With the Antubis and Mary reassuring Officer Sol, Stegman's surgery is interrupted by more hallucinations. As Dr. Gottreich looks to help the headless Frank Schweigen, Stegman is called in to answer Hook's accusations that his medical journal article was written by Chris. And as Stegman expresses concern over the fate of his cocaine-addicted lab rats, Peter comes face-to-face with the terrors that lay beneath the Kingdom.
After preparing him for more tests, Lona is no longer able to fight back and is sucked into one of Elmer's erotic dreams. As Dr. Schwarzton is setting up his seismology lab in Hook's basement apartment, brain surgery has left Officer Sol under Paul's control. And as Gottreich and Paul struggle to fit Schweigen with a new, computer-based head, Hook shows Chris the report that he is certain will end Stegman's career.
