Why all the girls love Spike

Why all the girls love Spike

James Marsters has noticed that his popularity has "climbed to a new level in the last six or nine months, where sometimes I get chased and stuff."

Speaking to the New York Times, he talks about the fact that Buffy's army of female fans love Spike.

Whilst Sarah Michelle Gellar remains discreetly covered during the increasingly intense liaisons between Spike and Buffy, Mr. Marsters gets as naked as broadcast television allows.

"In the words of Sid Vicious - girls love me 'cause I've got a nice face and a good figure," he declares when asked for his thoughts on Spike's appeal. "Women enjoy the potency of Spike... if a man is bad, he will be bad to you."

So what of his British fan base, does playing British give him in an insight into who finds Spike appealing? Apparently not as it turns out. Speaking to the UK's Bliss Magazine, James tells the story of his first trip to the UK

"This 80 year old lady came up to me and said, 'Would you do me a favour?'. I said, 'What?' and she said 'Turn around. My friend wants to see your bum!' That was my first introduction to your country!"

So would he like to British? "I like being American and I love my life so much right now, I just can't imagine wanting to change it. Except for maybe getting offered the lead part in a huge film!"
