Sarah Michelle Gellar will guest in season five of Angel, according to the American magazine TV Guide.

The listings mag reports that Gellar is in talks to appear in two episodes.

The episodes will probably be shown in the sweeps period in February or May.

The sweeps period is when all the US networks say yea or nay to renewing series. Canny producers usually make a no-expense spared extravaganza or two to air during that time to wow network execs.

TV Guide's report says that the president of The WB network made the decision to renew Angel for a fifth series on the proviso that characters from Buffy would appear in the series.
