David Boreanaz is to direct an episode of Angel.

Speaking to Sci Fi Wire.com, David revealed he will be directing the episode Soul Purpose. This episode will mark his first move behind the camera.

"I had an opportunity... to step into the director's chair, and I've always been fascinated with the camera and the movement and communicating with other actors," Boreanaz said. "Directing is really about telling someone to put applesauce on the table. ... And some people know how to do it, and some people don't."

David found directing the episode far from easy:

"You're directing ... an already prescribed show. You have your limitations. You can put your mark on it, and I feel like I did that with this show that I directed. But then again, I'm not the show runner. I don't get the final cut. I will have a director's cut, and if anybody would like to see [it], it will be much longer."

Soul Purpose will air on 21st January 2004 in the US.
