X marks the Joss
X marks the Joss

Joss Whedon will be writing for the X-Men comic.

With time presumably weighing heavy on his hands all of a sudden, Joss Whedon can console himself with one writing job - he'll be penning a series of X-Men comics for Marvel.

Working with top artist John Cassaday, Joss will be writing a six part story called Gifted. It'll start in Astonishing X-Men issue one - part of the high profile X-Men Reload relaunch of the many X-Men lines by Marvel comics.

Asked last week about rumours he might be working on this project, Joss told SciFi Wire that he'd approach the project with trepidation, given the huge fan-base and established "legacy" of the franchise.

Joss will presumably be very happy with the choice of artist - he's previously described Cassaday rewarding readers "with breathtaking vistas alternating with quiet, wry moments of humanity."

Cassaday has previously worked on titles including Planetary, Captain America, and Uncanny X-Men.
