The write stuff
The write stuff

We find out what they're all working on next season.

Old Buffy and Angel writers never die - being amongst the most sought-after on television, they just move on to other shows. We thought we would find out what they are up to.

Following the demise of Angel, Producer Steve DeKnight will be joining his old Mutant Enemy buddy Jeph Loeb as a writer/producer over at Smallville. Buffy: Animated's Loeb is Consulting Producer on the superhero series.

Out of the revolving door at Smallville goes Drew Greenberg, who heads to The O.C.

Meanwhile, the corpse of less-than-gripping Eliza Dushku vehicle Tru Calling is likely to be resuscitated by the incomparable Jane Espenson, who moves to the show from The O.C. and Gilmore Girls on The WB.

Filling the Espenson-sized hole on Gilmore Girls is fellow ex-Buffy writer Rebecca Rand Kirshner, who transfers from ABC's excellent Los Vegas.

As previously reported, Angel show runner Jeffrey Bell will be taking control of Cult's current favourite thing, Alias, from season four.

Last but not least, Angel's Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain will move to cop drama The Shield.

Currently out in the wilderness is David Fury. He'd been attached to Van Helsing spin-off series, Transylvania, which wasn't picked up by NBC for the new season.

Also looking for new projects are Doug Petrie, who left Lost in Space before it crashed on take-off, and 'Queen of Pain' Marti Noxon, who had both her pilot shows rejected.

Finally, possibly the best news of all is that Joss Whedon has been plotting the next phase of the Buffyverse with Tim Minear.

"I had dinner with Tim Minear the other night, and we talked about what kind of show we want to make next," Joss revealed in a post to the Bronze Beta posting board. "It always comes back to the same themes... people getting strength. People helping out. People being thankful for whatever they have, be it power, a decent life, or a fun-tastic Russian bride.

"I don't know if the Buffyverse is going to return to TV, but I hope so, and I know we'll be putting something out there. Maybe on HBO, cause I like me some cussin'."
