Scooby without Sarah
Scooby without Sarah

Scooby Doo 3 may have to do without a number of the original cast.

The Movie Hole website reports that although a third Scooby Doo film is likely, it will probably feature a whole new cast and crew.

Warner Bros are keen to replicate the box office success of the first two Scooby Doo films, but nobody else seems keen.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has already told the press she no longer wants to work with husband and Scooby co-star Freddie Prinze Jnr. Now Matthew Lillard, who plays Shaggy, has purportedly declined to return.

James Gunn, the screenwriter of the first two films told Movie Hole that he doesn't want to pen a third script at the moment, and director Raja Gosnell is also not keen.

"We are probably not doing Scooby 3 right away, at least not with us. We all love Scooby, but all of us involved, including myself, Raja, Matt and the others, would like to get a couple other projects under our belts before we did anything with Scooby again," Gunn said.

But who could possibly replace Sarah Michelle Gellar in the role? Perhaps Isla Fisher, reportedly up for the role originally and given a small part in the first film, might be the new Daphne.
