Farscape may have a life beyond cancellation as a cartoon - in the Anime style.
Cult recently caught up with top Jim Henson Company Executive Juliet Blake, to ask her about the future of Farscape. One of the things we learnt from her is that the show may look East for a continuation.
When asked if an animated Farscape was a possibility, she replied that it would be anime - the Japanese style of cartoon best known in the West for shows like Dragonball Z. "That is a real possibility, but I can't talk about that at the moment" she added, also confirming that Hensons are considering the possibility of a film.
Asked about the cancellation, she pointed to the complexity of Farscape as a reason:
"It was a very dense and complicated show. As a newcomer myself in season three, I felt I'd inherited something wonderful, but a little bit impenetrable if you weren't part of the Farscape phenomenon."
A final piece of good news for you is that Hensons have got the sci-fi bug now, and are currently looking into making more such shows.
"We're in the process of acquiring some very interesting books and there are two or three screenwriters that we are talking to at the moment."
We'll be putting the whole interview up on our Farscape site sometime soon, so keep checking back.
