Picard no more

Picard no more

Patrick Stewart says he thinks we've seen the last of Captain Picard and the rest of the Next Generation characters.

While promoting the sequel to X-Men, X2, Patrick Stewart had some upsetting news for fans of the Star Trek: Next Generation crew.

"I've probably said goodbye to Picard forever now," Stewart told Cinema Confidential, adding, "I think the Next Generation is over with."

Part of the reason for Stewart's decision not to return to the role could be the attention he receives from obsessive fans.

"I went on stage at the Broadhurst Theater as Prospero in The Tempest, only to find two people sitting in the front row in Starfleet uniforms, and I wanted to hurt them," the actor recalls.

He also told Cinema Confidential that he fears being typecast, and believes he has lost out on some major roles because of his Trek work.
