Star Trek sounds

Star Trek sounds

Original manuscripts written for Star Trek are to be auctioned by Sotheby's in London next month.

The score for Where No Man Has Gone Before was written by Alexander Courage and features a full version of the famous fanfare, over which William Shatner said those immortal words, "Space, the final frontier..."

Simon Maguire, of Sotheby's, said: "These are the original drafts for one of TV's best loved series."

Fascinating fact: Gene Rodenberry wrote lyrics for the Star Trek theme, which he never intended to use, just so that he could claim joint royalties with Courage.

It is hoped that the lot could fetch up to £25,000. The manuscripts will be auctioned on 5th December beside other equally great works by Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and Chopin.
