End of Enterprise?

Rumours are gathering that the latest Star Trek series will be axed after a fourth season.

Despite the show getting a relaunch for season three, complete with a new storyline and the addition of Star Trek to the title, Enterprise has failed to capture the public's imagination.

Various sites such as Dark Horizons.com are now reporting that the series' days could be numbered. The 'evidence' comes in the form of an alleged memo issued to production staff at Paramount, which states that the current (third) season will only feature twenty-four episodes rather than the standard twenty-six.

A fourth season is expected, as this would take the number of episodes to over a hundred - the number required to secure a syndication deal in the US.

Mediaweek also reports that Enterprise may be moved to Friday nights, to stop it being in direct competition with Smallville.

Fans of the original series may remember that it was cancelled after it was moved to Fridays.
