BBC2 at NFT

The National Film Theatre celebrates Forty Years of BBC2

To mark BBC2's fortieth anniversary, the National Film Theatre is hosting a series of screenings, events and talks during May.

Amongst the events scheduled is a Play School reunion, taking place at 2pm on Saturday 15th May, with former presenters Brian Cant, Johnny Ball, Fred Harris, and Floella Benjamin. Clips and reminiscences are promised, though whether the toys will be in attendance is not yet known.

On Monday 17th May at 8.40pm, Joan Bakewell leads an illustrated discussion of the past, present and future of BBC2. There's also a chance to see the rediscovered 14-minute tape of BBC2's power-cut-stricken opening night.

Another highlight will be the screening of a recently re-discovered Not Only... But Also, with guest star Peter Sellers, in the NFT's Pete and Dud on 2 evenings, held on Saturday 1st and Monday 24th May.

Other screening events include:

  • Anthology Drama on 2
  • Arts on 2
  • Jazz on 2
  • Late-Night Line-Up
  • Seven Samurai
  • Theatre 625
