I'm Free!

Channel 4 goes Inside the Comedy Closet for a new documentary.

Broadcast this Saturday, 3rd July on Channel 4 is I'm Free: Inside the Comedy Closet, a documentary looking at the camp comedians and presenters who have graced the box over the years.

Larry Grayson, Frankie Howerd and Kenneth Williams were all famous for their innuendo-laden acts and all were extremely popular with the general public. But it is one of television's greatest ironies that they all had to hide details of their private lives, for fear of being rejected by their fans.

Little Britain's Matt Lucas narrates this look at the some of the biggest TV names. Danny La Rue reveals how he was made to þbutch up' and hide the fact he had a long-term, male partner and Barry Cryer provides his insight into what made them all tick.

Other contributors include Julian Clary, Paul O'Grady and Graham Norton, who all owe a lot to their predecessors for blazing a trail.

I'm Free: Inside the Comedy Closet is on Channel 4, Saturday 3rd July at 9.50pm.
