Trek Mastermind

Test your Trek knowledge with Mastermind's fiendish questions.

On Wednesday 30th June, one of the show's youngest ever contestants - 21-year old Doug Smith - answered questions on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

He scored 13 points and, after the general knowledge round, came third with a score of 20.

How would you have fared? Here's the questions posed, plus some there wasn't time for.

2) Who is the mother of Commander Sela, who led the Romulan attempt to invade the planet Vulcan in Unification?

3) What name is given to the Klingon delicacy, a dish of serpent worms served live, offered to Will Riker when he is assigned aboard the Pagh as an exchange officer?

4) In Cause and Effect, when the Enterprise is trapped in a time loop, what is the implanted message that Data recognises just in time to save the ship?

5) At which battle did Locutus lead the Borg against the Federation, destroying 39 Federation vessels and killing nearly 11,000 Starfleet personnel?

6) In the show's second series, who replaced Dr Beverley Crusher as Chief Medical Officer on the Enterprise?

7) "As I experience certain sensory input patterns my mental pathways become accustomed to them. The inputs eventually are anticipated and even missed when absent", is Data's definition of what?

9) When Wesley left the Enterprise for Starfleet Academy, whom did Jean-Luc Picard suggest he seek out for advice and guidance?

10) What was the Borg designation of Hugh before he was given his human name on the Enterprise?

11) In Klingon culture, a person who acts as a lieutenant to a warrior during a ritual challenge, a role assumed by Picard for Worf, is given what title?

12) To which race of humanoids did Mot, the barber on the Enterprise, belong?

13) In Déjà Q, when Q has been deprived of his powers by the Continuum, what does Guinan do to him to check that he is mortal?

14) What is Lwaxana Troy's pet name for her daughter, Deanna, the Ship's Counsellor on the Enterprise?

15) In Peak Performance, Will Riker was given command of which 80-year-old starship to play out a simulated war game against the Enterprise?

16) For which event on the Enterprise did Beverley Crusher teach Data to dance?

And here are the ones not used:

17) In The Tin Man, who is the Betazoid specialist in first contact, brought aboard the Enterprise to communicate with the organic spacecraft, Gomtuu?

18) In Justice, what crime did Wesley Crusher commit on Rubicun 3 that resulted in him being sentenced to die?

19) Which human couple adopted Worf after his parents were killed in the Khitomer Massacre?

20) When Data created a daughter, Lal, which scientist travelled to the Enterprise to study her, planning to take her to the Daystrom Annex on Galor 4?

21) In Captain's Holiday, what was the name of the quantum phase inhibitor, hidden on the planet Risa , that was capable of halting the nuclear reaction within a star?

22) In Time's Arrow, which writer was working as a bellboy at the hotel at which Data stayed in 19th century San Francisco?

23) In A Fistful of Datas, which of the crew, as Durango, helped 'Sheriff' Worf and 'Deputy' Alexander apprehend Eli Hollander?
