Beam Me Up Scotty

James Doohan says farewell to fans at weekend event.

The surviving members of the original Star Trek series gathered this weekend at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel to pay tribute to James Doohan.

The Beam Me Up Scotty event marked Doohan's last appearance at a fan convention – he is suffering from both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. During the event he appeared in high sprits and waved to fans.

Today the actor was present at the unveiling of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which was paid for with the aid of fan contributions.
