Christopher Reeve dies
The film series' Superman has died aged 52.
Christopher Reeve suffered a cardiac arrest at his New York home, causing him to slip into a coma and die on Sunday, his publicist Wesley Combs said.
Reeve was paralysed nine years ago after he broke his neck during a horse riding accident.
After the accident he was determined to walk again and devoted his life to campaigning for stem cell research to help people in similar situations.
In recent years, Reeve returned to the Superman universe, appearing in two episodes of Smallville. He played Virgil Swann, a scientist who seemed to know a lot about Clark Kent's origins.
