Kolchak cast
Ex-vampire takes lead in Night Stalker pilot.
Stuart Townsend, best known for playing vampire Lestat in the big screen adaptation of Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned, will star as Kolchak in a remake of the 1970s supernatural TV series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Townsend will be joined by Gabrielle Union in the show's pilot. She'll play Kolchak's journalist colleague, who will partner him in his pursuit of supernatural phenomena.
Night Stalker, from Touchstone TV, has been reinvented by former X Files writer-producer Frank Spotnitz. X Files creator Chris Carter has always cited Kolchak's adventures as the main inspiration for The X Files, so it seems the wheel has come full circle.
