Back on the beat

Dixon of Dock Green is set to return.

Radio Four is to bring back TV's most famous policeman, Dixon of Dock Green.

David Calder, familiar to cult television fans for his role as Nathan Spring in Star Cops, will come back down to earth, replacing the late Jack Warner in the six-part series.

Starring alongside him will be new Doctor Who and Casanova star David Tennant, playing Andy Crawford.

The series will be broadcast in June and will be based on original TV scripts.

Dixon of Dock Green ran from 1955 to 1976 and at its peak was watched by over 14 million people.
