Selected after Labour's by-election panel decided not to shortlist their General Election candidate, David Williams. Nearly a third of the members attending the selection meeting spoiled their voting papers in protest against his exclusion.

He didn't stand in the General Election because his mother, Annie, was ill. She has since died.
