Declaration Times Announced

McIntosh
Neil McIntosh - Chief Counting Officer
The country's Chief Counting Officer, Neil McIntosh has received the estimated declaration times for the night of the referendum count. The counting officers from Scotland's 32 local authorities have been submitting the times over the past week.

The race for the first declaration will be between Clackmannanshire and East Renfrewshire councils. They both expect to have their votes counted by 12.30am on Friday, September 12. The main cluster of declarations are likely to fall between 2.00am and 3.00am, with the final result expected sometime between 4.30am and 6.00am. The Highland council, which covers three parliamentary constituencies, is expected to be the last to declare.

The results will be verified and announced at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Mr McIntosh will announce the outcome of each local count, and verify the same information for announcement by each local counting officer.

Polling will take place between 7am and 10pm on Thursday 11 September. Each voter will be issued with two ballot papers - a white one which asks voters if they wish to see the establishment of a Scottish Parliament or not and a green one which covers the question relating to the proposed parliament's tax-varying powers.
