Special Church Services to Remember Diana

Churches and cathedrals across Britain held services in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, and many made special arrangements for the weekend.

The service from Westminister Abbey was also relayed by large video screens to seven churches and cathedrals around Britain.

At Landaff near Cardiff, around six hundred people packed into the cathedral to watch the funeral service.

The congregation was led in prayers before the funeral service and joined in the hymns accompanied by the cathedral organ.

Outside on Landaff green about a thousand more people who were allocated tickets in a special ballot watched the proceedings on another screen.

Landaff has especially poignant associations with Princess Diana and her family. It was here on St David's day in 1991 that she and Prince Charles brought the eight year old Prince William to attend his first public engagement.

He was greeted then by hundreds of school children on the green waving daffodils. Now, on the same spot, a sea of flowers was laid in memory of his mother.
