Some reports have suggested he did special protection duties in the Royal Military Police: the Ministry of Defence in London says he did not.

He was married in 1995 but he and his wife, Susan, separated in 1997.

Known as "Dodi's shadow", he was part of a 40-strong security service surrounding the Al Fayed family.
