Hamiltons to Present Radio Show

The former Conservative MP, Neil Hamilton, and his wife Christine will be making the news again on Monday. They are presenting a breakfast radio show.

The couple are standing in for the regular presenters of the 8-9 am slot on the national commercial station, Talk Radio. They will take a look at the day's news, and also take listeners'calls.

Talk Radio declined to say how much the Hamiltons would be paid. "They have to get up at 4am in the morning and it's half a day's work. It's not a five-minute thing," said a spokesman. "But it's nothing extortionate. It's the going rate."

The Hamiltons have already appeared on the BBC's satirical quiz show, Have I Got News For You. On that occasion they laughed off Mr Hamilton's political downfall as they braved non-stop jibes about the allegations of political corruption he faced.

Last week Mr Hamilton appeared on a BBC Radio 5 phone-in, during which he surprised listeners by saying he could neither resign nor be expelled from the Conservative party because he was no longer a member.

He has come under increasing pressure to leave the party, after being condemned in the Downey report for his behaviour while an MP.

The long-awaited report into the so-called "cash for questions" affairs found that Mr Hamilton and several other MPs concealed payments from Parliament.
