Review

Dan

This week Buffy is brought to you by the letter H.

H is for hair, Buffy's is shorter, Anya's is blonder, and Willow just doesn't want to go back to her roots...

H is also for Hugs and for Holes as Bufy and Dawn get all emotional underground, while Xander saves Willow with the power of love...

Eew. I'm sorry, this is just too much. As a wrap of all the events of season six, Grave does the business, but did it have to do it in such a mawkish way? The whole Willow being saved is also such a cop-out, akin to the end of the Doctor Who story The Daemons.

Thank heavens for Anya - and Spike getting his soul back.

Ann

So, season seven goes out not with a bang, but a whimper. Lots of them, in fact.

Willow lies whimpering in Xander's arms, Buffy and Dawn have a good old girly cry at one another - again, and Giles lies whimpering on the floor of the Magic Box. Oh, what jolly fun. I'm glad Giles has found something to laugh about in the events of this season, because I certainly haven't.

Face it, this has to be the worst Buffy finale ever. Where's the big snake? The great romance? Even a return of Adam would have been better. Instead we get more mopey whining between the characters, and a denoument where Xander weakly quips his way out of the apocalypse. Plus some of the most pompous and overblown music ever heard on the series.

I want to say something nice about this, so here goes. Spike! With his shirt off! Now, that's a plot thread I want to see more of.
