This week: Vampirella: When Buffy explores the nerds' lair, she discovers several action figures - including Vampirella. Created in 1969, Vampirella is a comic book superhero hailing from the distant planet Drakulonn. She has devoted her life to destroying all vampires - and wearing very skimpy red outfits. Blade Runner: Andrew calls Jonathan a 'skin job' - a term used to describe the humanoid replicants in classic genre film Blade Runner. Bondage: Buffy is nearly sliced and diced by circular saws in the geek's lair, probably inspired by a similar scene in 007 film The World is Not Enough. The geeks also have the kind of jet packs Bond famously used in Thunderball. Chain of Command: Andrew uses Star Trek: The Next Generation as a reference point for the geeks' pecking order: "Warren's the boss. He's Picard, you're Deanna Troi. Get used to the feeling, Betazoid," he tells Jonathan. Klingon love poems are also discovered in their lair.

Something fishy: Xander claims he is part fish, referring to the Season Two episode Go Fish. He was exposed to strange Russian steroids whilst spying on Sunnydale High's swim team, but luckily didn't metamorphosise into a giant halibut - unlike the rest of them.

Magic Touch: The scenes at the amusement park were specially filmed at Six Flags Magic Mountain, 35 miles north of Los Angeles.

Magic Bullet: Academics have puzzled, to no avail, as to how exactly Warren managed to accidentally shoot Tara on the first floor from his position in Buffy's back yard.

Satirical Cult site Tachyon TV even went so far as to suggest Oliver Stone would make a JFK-esque film to explain it all...

Unwanted advances: In a powerful scene, likely to be extensively trimmed for the early evening screening of Seeing Red, Spike attempts to rape Buffy, unable to accept he isn't wanted any more.
