Trivia

RILEY, YOU BIG LUG

A small shrine to the dumbest man on TV. This week:

A plastic stake - why? And where on earth do you buy one? Surely the big lug could have roughed Spike up a bit better than that?

Rather than stay with Buffy, Riley wants to run around the jungle killing monsters. It'll all end in tears. Didn't he see Predator? Even Arnie almost copped it in that one.

Look out of the window, Riley. What's the first thing you do when your plane takes off? Look out the window of course. Not deliberately look completely the other way and ignore your girlfriend who's jumping up and down and shouting at you.

In Memorium: The end credits state the episode is "In Memory of D.C. Gustavson". DC Gustavson was apparently a close friend of Sarah Michelle Gellar and part of the Buffy crew. He died in November 2000 at age 41 after fighting cancer and AIDS.

Monkey Business: The film featuring a hockey-playing chimp Anya refers to is actually genuine. MVP (Most Valuable Primate) was released in October 2000 and starred Kevin Zegers as a teen hockey player who winds up on a team that includes a chimp. Don't all rush out and buy it on DVD...

Marc's Movies: He may not have been a hit with everyone, but casting directors seem to love Marc Blucas. Since leaving the show, Mark has signed up to appear in no less than six feature films: They, We Were Soldiers, A View from the Top, Sunshine State, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Summer Catch. At the time of writing, Marc is currently filming the BBC Film's drama I Capture the Castle.

Oops!: Riley stakes Spike through his shirt but doesn't leave a hole. It must be one of those self-healing vampire shirts then.

How did Buffy know Riley was leaving at midnight - he only told her he was leaving that night. Music: As Buffy and Riley dance in her room, Emiliana Torrini's Summerbreeze plays in the background. It's on the album From Love in the Time of Science.
