Episode Guide
The Zeppo

Trivia

Band of brothers: The Zeppo draws its title from one of the four Marx Brothers, a group of irreverent comedians who were huge stars during the 1930s. Herbert "Zeppo" Marx was the groups straight man, the foil for much of his elder brothers anarchic humour. Hence to be "the Zeppo" is to be the least important member of a group.

Pop culture: The episode is littered with references, including nods to the 1982 Michael Jackson song Wanna Be Starting Something (on his best-selling Thriller album) and Chuck Norriss CBS TV series Walker Texas Ranger.

Super Sayings: There are two references to the Superman comic strip, TV series and movies: Xander's line "But, gee, Mr White, if Clark and Lois get all the good stories I'll never be a good reporter", which he acknowledges as a "Jimmy Olsen joke", name-checks the Daily Planet's editor Perry White, Superman's alter ego Clark Kent, and his colleague Lois Lane. Cordelia's jibe "You must feel like Jimmy Olsen" is another reference to the Daily Planet's bumbling cub photographer.

Acronym alert!:'DUI' stands for 'Driving Under the Influence': something you can be charged with if, like Xanders uncle Rory, you drink and drive.

After Hours: If you liked this episode, check out Martin Scorsese's neglected 1985 black comedy After Hours, about a young man who finds himself at the centre of a series of nightmarish events after befriending a young woman he meets in a restaurant.
