[Plays Angel]
It's fair to say that before he stepped out of the shadows in
'Welcome to the Hellmouth' David Boreanaz's career had been less
than spectacular.
Born in Buffalo, NY, and brought up in Philadelphia, David graduated
from Ithaca College in New York and moved to Los Angeles where he
found that the streets were not exactly paved with acting offers.
He parked cars, painted houses and handed out towels at a sports
club. In 1993 he had uncredited roles in 'Best of the Best 2' and
'Aspen Extreme', and an appearance in a single episode of the hit
US show 'Married With Children'.
His luck changed when a manager spotted him out walking his dog
in Hollywood. He was sent along to audition for Angel. Casting director
Marcia Shulman took one look at him and knew she had found her brooding
anti-hero.
Boreanaz is now the star of his own series, the Buffy spin-off
'Angel', and thanks to his phenomenal popularity, the show is attracting
plenty of excitement. Angel moves to Los Angeles, where he meets
up with Cordelia and a demon called Doyle (Glenn Quinn). According
to Joss Whedon, the tone of the show will be darker than that of
'Buffy'. Boreanaz says, "Yes, (Angel) is a tortured soul and he
has a guilty conscience, but at the same time he's trying to rebuild
that and make amends, for his own true sanity and to make himself
become a better person. And I think we'll see that happen slowly
but surely."
