These pages are from "Prog 0" - a test issue of 2000AD produced back in 1976 to show how the comic would work.
Test strips included The Harlem Heroes, about players of a futuristic sport with a high violence content, and Mach One, about a cybernetically enhanced British agent - yes, a bit like the Six Million Dollar Man. Invasion 1988 told of Britain invaded by Russian-like troops. Remember, 1988 was a long way off back then. Most of the strips had a long life ahead of them: in fact, Invasion has only recently been revived, as the story Savage, by original writer Pat Mills.
All of these strips, plus a Dan Dare strip we're unable to reprint here, made it into Prog One, where they ran alongside Flesh, a strip about dinosaur herders. The Visible Man wasn't quite so lucky, only ever getting a short run in 1978.
The keen-eyed will have spotted the absence of 2000AD's best-known character, Judge Dredd. He didn't actually make his debut until prog 2.
