RealMedia: The Coronation

Long Live the Royal Family!

The Royal Family are among the best-loved of British Institutions - more popular than tea, almost as popular as fish-and-chips.

In 2002 the Queen celebrates 50 years on the throne with the massive Golden Jubilee celebration.

Despite the death of her mother the same year, the monarchy is flourishing, with future king Prince William as much a Pop Idol as Will Young.

Occasional calls for the abolition of the monarchy have been drowned out by a widespread chorus of approval.

The family look set to keep their place in the nation's hearts for generations to come. Just like the cholesterol from a fish supper.
