The Young Man of Steel returns to terrestrial TV this Sunday.

All those Tom Welling fans who've been eagerly awaiting the answers to the cliffhangers Smallville season one left us with can finally relax. Season two, kicking off with Vortex, part two, will begin on Channel Four on Sunday at 6.35pm.

We last saw Clarke racing to rescue Lana Lang from a twister. Meanwhile, his mother took refuge in a cellar alongside the spacecraft that brought her adoptive son, suddenly reactivated.

Season two promises to delve deeper into Clarke's origins, revelations about junior news bunny Chloe, and plenty of peril. There'll also be a guest appearance by the best-known Superman actor ever, Christopher Reeve, later in the season.
