Smallville season three

Smallville's executive producer, Al Gough, recently spoke about season three of the WB series. Warning! There are spoilers ahead.

Speaking to MSN Entertainment, Al Gough talked about changes in the Clark-Chloe and the Clark-Lex relationships for season three, and revealed that a number of familiar faces from the DC Comics universe may appear.

About the Clark-Chloe dynamic, Gough said, "How many times can she be jilted by Clark? That turns into resentment. Where will that take their friendship, and will that ultimately put Clark's secret in jeopardy, now that Lionel Luthor has obviously taken an interest in Chloe and her work studying the Kryptonite?"

Talking of the Luthers, he also revealed that this season we may just see Lex make his first steps into the dark side.

Finally, Gough revealed that while Superman's true love Lois Lane won't be appearing this year, other characters from the DC Comics universe will.

"Our hope is in season three, and I put it out there, is that you will see Bruce Wayne. This year, we really want to make it happen. You could also see Perry White and Jimmy Olsen this year."

But what will Bruce Wayne be like?

"Basically about Lex's age, and he's more of a darker, brooding figure. At this stage in their lives, I don't think Clark and Bruce get along, because they are, in a weird way, opposite sides of the coin.

"One's grown up under the guidance of very loving parents, and one has grown up without parents and feels the need to avenge their murder."
