A new documentary about the Star Trek cast, featuring some recently discovered behind-the-scenes footage, will be broadcast this Saturday.
The archive material was discovered by British TV producer Mark Murray. On a visit to LA, he decided to follow-up a rumour that Star Trek extra Billy Blackburn still had home-movies he shot in the 60s.
"I took my camera with me all through my career," said Blackburn. "I kept the footage in a safe place and thought nothing more of it. I was really surprised when Mark called me up."
The scenes show William Shatner, Leonard and the rest of the cast joking around between takes, and seemingly puts an end to the rumours that they didn't get on.
"I had no idea that Sulu [George Takei] didn't like Bill [William Shatner]," Blackburn said. "Bill was always very nice to me, and I loved Leonard Nimoy. He was Mr Spock, always gracious and polite."
To see the footage watch Star Trek: After they were Famous, this Saturday, 9.15pm on ITV1.
