Premise: After a night spent celebrating the latest victory by local baseball team The Isotopes, Homer and his friends trash the school, but Chief Wiggum blames the kids and brings in a curfew. Following an abortive attempt to break this, the kids gang together to make public their parents' darkest secrets.

Trivia:

• In the school shower-room, the drunken Homer and his friends sing Queen's 1977 hit We Are The Champions.
• Cyndi Lauper sings The Star Spangled Banner to the tune of her 1984 hit Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
• Luanne van Houten has begun yet another affair, this time with Pyro's best friend, Gyro.
• Agnes Skinner and Superintendent Chalmers appear to be getting romantically involved and Mrs Prince is a compulsive shoplifter.
• The sitcom on the TV is called Don't Go There but the kids try and amuse themselves with board games, including Citizenship, Energy Shortage, Lent, and Hippo in the House.

Homage: The couch gag is beautifully lifted from Dr Strange-love or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (Stanley Kubrick, 1963). The film the kids sneak out to see, The Bloodening, is clearly based on Village of the Damned (Wolf Rilla, 1960).

Look out for: Homer's rather deluded memories of the night that led up to his binge and the old man talking all the way through the credits, particularly when he tells the Gracie Films logo to shush herself.

Song: Everyone sings Kids, a song inspired by, it sounds like, the musical Bye Bye Birdie.

Notes: A curious unmemorable episode with a good chunk in the middle. Neither the opening with The Isotopes nor the finale with the rather dire song help this one at all, and frankly, if it wasn't for the superb parody of Village of the Damned, and the kids' revenge by revealing their family's secrets, it'd sink without trace.
