Premise: Three stories: Hell Toupee, in which Snake's hair attaches itself to Homer to wreak vengeance for his execution; The Terror of Tiny Toon, in which Lisa and Bart become embroiled in Itchy and Scratchy's violent world; and Starship Poopers, where Lisa's real father returns to Earth after she sprouts tentacles and fangs.

Couch: Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees wait for the Simpsons - who've died in the garage. Hell Toupee is loosely based on The Monkey's Paw, the short story by W. W. Jacobs, as well as The Hand (Oliver Stone, 1981). 'Starship Poopers'' title is, obviously, derived from Starship Troopers (Paul Verhoeven, 1997).

Trivia:

• The closing theme bears more than a passing resemblance to shows such as The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone.
• Snake combs Nacho Cheez into his hair.
• In the Kwik-E-Mart, the No Smoking sign is amidst a series of Laramie Cigarette adverts.
• Homer watches When Skirts Fall Off, Secrets of National Security Revealed and The World's Deadliest Executions, the latter introduced by Ed McMahon.
• Nick Riviera is a member of the Back Alley Medical Group.
• Homer can't spell toolbox (tulebox).
• Lisa finds it humiliating to be a character in a cartoon series, particularly one where the police motto is 'Protect and Sever'.

Homage: Freddie Krueger started his slashing spree in A Nightmare on Elm Street (Wes Craven, 1984) and starred in all the sequels, of variable quality, and a TV series. Jason Voorhees is from Friday 13th, Part II (Steve Miner, 1981) and likewise returned for most of the dodgy sequels and the TV series.

Itchy and Scratchy in: Candle in the Wound.

Look out for: Poochie making a last dramatic bid for fame in Itchy and Scratchy's world and Marge saying she's so f*****g embarrassed when talking to Jerry Springer. Also, we love the idea that the Rigellions consider Earth to be an obscure T-shirt producing planet.

Notes: Another collection of horrors, of varying degrees of wit. The Itchy and Scratchy one is by far the best, and Starship Poopers is only really amusing once the Jerry Springer segment begins.
