Water, water, everywhere. And that's the problem.
Episode AABFO4
Written by John Swartzwelder
Directed by Mike B. Anderson
Also starring: Tress MacNeille, Karl Weidergott
Premise: After a visit to a Wild West town, Grampa gets sick and his kidneys explode. The only way to save his life is for Homer, whose fault it is, to donate one of his. Sadly, Homer is not enthralled by the idea and runs away to sea.
Features: Cal, Lenny, Moe, Grampa, Jasper, Rev. Lovejoy, Dr Hibbert, Sylvia, Quimby, Hans Moleman, Captain McCallister, Krusty.
Couch: The Simpsons are frogs, with Maggie as a tadpole.
Trivia:
- Springfield is two hours' drive from Bloodbath Gulch: The Friendliest Town in the Old West.
- Between it and Springfield is the world's largest toilet.
- Larry Hagman of Dallas fame reportedly has five kidneys and three hearts, Homer is a big fan of actor F. Murray Abraham, and during the following week, the 20th episode of Sumo Babies will be transmitted on TV.
- Bart rents some of Homer's favourite movies, including Gorilla Squadron, Gorilla Island 6 and Apes-A-Poppin'.
Look out for: Grampa getting slapped by a robotic hand, the ship of lost souls and, outside Davey Jones' Locker, a strange boy eating a raw fish who looks like Krusty!
Notes: An odd episode really that goes on a bit too long and could probably have done with an entertaining B story. Homer's running away is funny the first time, but by the second, it's lost its impact. The biggest joke comes from Grampa's need to go to the lavatory on the way back from the ghost town. Which isn't that funny at all, really.
