A cautionary tale about the foolhardiness of entering radio competitions.
Episode 1F15
Written by John Swartzwelder
Directed by Jim Reardon
Also starring: Pamela Hayden, Maggie Roswell
Premise: 'KBBL is going to give me something stupid!' Bart wins a new pet - Stampy the elephant - from KBBL. Homer doesn't approve. Until he's approached by an ivory dealer.
Features: Moe, Bill and Marty at KBBL, Grainpa, Chief Wiggum, Snake, Principal Skinner, Kent Brockman, Jasper, Helen Lovejoy, Milhouse, the van Houtens, the Flanderses, Nelson, Patty and Selma.
Couch: The Simpsons' eyes rush in - followed by their bodies.
Homage: Sixteen Tons was a hit in 1955 for Tennessee Ernie Ford.
Mmmmm:...elephant friend.
Notes: Another favourite. It's hard to explain the special appeal of this episode. Perhaps it's because Homer is so exceptionally dumb. Or perhaps because it contains the 'D'oh!' 'A deer!' 'A female deer!' gag.
