Haiti Earthquake, two months on

On January 12 a powerful earthquake devastated the Haitian capital, Port au Prince.

How did you feel when the earthquake struck?

I think it was impossible. I did not imagine something like this will happen.

I was very afraid, I thought it was the end of time.

[Reporter: The end of time, like judgement day?]  Yes.

Have you been in an earthquake before?  Are you interested in seismology? 

I felt in one in 2007 - that was not too bad.

I think [I am interested].  When I grow up I would like to be a seisemologist.  I would try and tell the president how people can be prepared.

What was the impact?  How have you coped?

It killed a lot of people.

I did not cope. I do not want this thing to happen again because it is a disaster.

What are the next steps?

They should send a lot of people.  They should rebuild the construction and make it earthquake proof, water proof, and fire proof.

Are people more friendly since the earthquake?

People are more friendly.

[Before] they may have food and they stay at their house eating by themselves.

Now they share their food.
