Willow Rosenberg is a shy, but bright and highly intelligent student at Sunnydale High School. She was approached by Buffy, who wants her help studying. Flattered that someone as relatively cool as Buffy would associate with her, she eagerly agrees, and soon becomes the Slayerettes� resident researcher. Her most valued skill is her ability to hunt down information on the Internet, but she�s equally at home delving into dusty books in Giles� library.
Willow has had trouble establishing a relationship with a member of the opposite sex. She has a crush on her best friend, Xander Harris, but is too shy to tell him about it. (They dated briefly when they were children, but called it off when he stole her Barbie doll!)
An all-round nice person, Willow has also demonstrated remarkable courage and fortitude when the occasion demands. She has a well-developed sense of humour, but is only able to demonstrate it in the company of people she�s comfortable with. Willow has been dating Oz, the guitar player in the school�s resident band, a relationship endangered after illicit smoochies with Xander (in 'Lover�s Walk'). Willow�s association with the slayer has sparked an interest in Wicca, with some unpredictable results.
In "Gingerbread" she was caught up in the mob hysteria generated by the apparent murders of two children, and was almost burnt at the stake after being betrayed by her mother, Sheila,( who had previously taken little interest in her daughter�s life).
An alternate-universe version of Willow appeared in 'The Wish', when Anya created an alternate reality, to fulfil Cordelia�s wish that Buffy �had never come to Sunnydale�. Cordelia found herself in a town that had been ravaged by the forces of darkness, a place where the vampires reigned, where Willow and Xander are both vampires, serving a version of the Master who hadn�t been killed by Buffy.
The vampire Willow is far kinkier than the original, and takes pleasure from torturing the chained Angel.
The vampire Willow was, ironically, killed by Oz. However, she was plucked from the alternate universe just before being dusted, by another Anyanka spell, and brought to the normal version of Sunnydale, where she encountered her real-world counterpart, (in 'Doppelgangland'). When Willow managed to reverse the spell the vampire Willow returned to her own reality, only to be staked again by Oz...
Alyson Hannigan has been acting professionally since she was four, beginning with a string of TV commercials. She later moved on to guest appearances in series including 'Roseanne' and 'Picket Fences', and had a regular role in another fantasy series, 'Free Spirit'. Her film credits include 'My Stepmother is An Alien' and 'Dead Man on Campus'.
