Reggae Boyz

The Reggae Boys at the 1998 World Cup

France 1998 the World Cup finals

Known as the Reggae boyz, the Jamaican football team qualified for it's first World Cup Finals in France 98. With a mixture of British stars such as Robbie Earle, Marcus Gayle, Deon Burton and Fitzroy Simpson as well as home grown star Walter Boyd they set off on a soccer party which captured Jamaica's imagination.

Their glorious campaign started with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Croatia, who would end up in third place overall in the tournament, a 5-0 loss to the much fancied Argentina. Eventually winning 2-1 in their last game against Japan.

Win Lose or draw, the results were not important to the team or their supporters, just getting there was enough.
