Known as the Reggae boyz, the Jamaican football team qualified for it's first World Cup Finals in France 98. With a mixture of British stars such as Robbie Earle, Marcus Gayle, Deon Burton and Fitzroy Simpson as well as home grown star Walter Boyd they set off on a soccer party which captured Jamaica's imagination.
Their glorious campaign started with a 3-1 defeat at the hands
of Croatia, who would end up in third place overall in the tournament,
a 5-0 loss to the much fancied Argentina. Eventually winning 2-1
in their last game against Japan.
Win Lose or draw, the results were not important to the team or their supporters, just getting there was enough.
