A Corgi

Corgis

It was the Queen's father, King George VI, who started the Corgi trend, by introducing the first of the breed to the Royal household in 1933. The Corgi is now a Royal icon, as recognisable, and perhaps as admired, as some of the Royal Family!

HM The Queen has kept up the Corgi tradition by owning three to four at any one time, but has also introduced the 'Dorgi' to the family which is a cross between a Corgi and a Dachshund.

The Queen's corgis are almost all direct descendants from Susan, a female given to her on her 18th birthday.
