Just like a Tonka!

Mighty Dump Truck

No boy was complete without a tonka toy but things changed in 1965. To be a tonka truck kid was an absolute necessity but that was no longer enough. Now you had to be a Tonka Mighty Dump Truck kid.

In 1965 the mighty dump truck made all those before it look inadequate, rather tame, not up to the job. With its bright yellow paint job this was a tough truck. You just can't argue with a kid who has one of these.

To show the true power of the mighty dump truck the manufacturers put an elephant on the back of the truck to show any possible rivals that this was the biggest and best truck around.

Obviously the legacy of the Mighty Dump Truck remains. Not only is it one of the best selling toy trucks today but Ford recently licensed the name and applied it to their new uber-4X4. The colour? Anything you want, as long as it's bright yellow.
