Premise: When Homer buys a Canyonero 4x4, he finds he can't drive it and so takes Marge's car instead. Left to do the shopping in a strange vehicle, Marge succumbs to road rage and, before long, is caught by Chief Wiggum who sends her on a course to overcome these aggressive urges.

Trivia:

• Ms Krabappel does a fan dance, singing Fever, a 1964 hit for Helen Shapiro (although the original was by Peggy Lee in 1958).
• The rest of the teachers pastiche songs from Fame (Alan Parker, 1980) in their Edu-Tainment Showcase at the school.
• There's a sign at the Wild Animal Kingdom that tells us the animals there are Born Free - Then Caged.
• Hole singer Courtney Love is advertising Wheaties breakfast cereal.
• The bear Chief Wiggum uses to demonstrate good driving is called Curtis E. Bear: it's poor Eddie in a suit.
• Homer buys the Canyonero from Gil at the OK Car-Ral. Except he doesn't. Not quite. Poor Gil!

Homage: The scenes of the animals rampaging through the Wild Animal Kingdom are reminiscent of Jumanji (Joe Johnston, 1995), just as Homer says.

Look out for: All the plugs for NBC, a rival TV network, which causes Homer to apologise to Fox over the closing credits. And Hank Williams' Canyonero theme again.

Notes: Very clever, very dry humour and showcasing the last person you might expect to suffer road rage. Some lovely moments (Marge losing patience with Agnes and Kearney is great), especially her drive across the cornfield. Sadly the Canyonero doesn't survive the experience of this episode, which would have been nice, if only to see Marge regularly at the wheel rather than Homer.
