The Simpsons | Episode Guide | Season Two
Bart Gets an F

Bart makes a deal with god.

Episode 7F03
Written by David M. Stern
Directed by David Silverman
Also starring: JoAnn Harris, Pamela Hayden, Russi Taylor
Special guest voice: Marcia Wallace (as Ms Krabappel)

Premise: Bart has failed yet again and faces the prospect of sitting the fourth grade for another year. His attempts to befriend Martin only lead to Martin becoming cool. Even a deal with God can't get Bart out of this one - especially when it leads to Mayor Quimby declaring 'Snow Day - The Funnest Day in the History of Springfield'.

Features: Ms Krabappel, Martin Prince, Milhouse, Wendell, Lewis, Richard, Otto, Sherri and Terri, Principal Skinner, Nelson Muntz, Mr Burns, Smithers, Chief Wiggum, Krusty the Klown, Rev. Lovejoy, Helen Lovejoy, Grampa, Sideshow Bob, Apu, Patty, Sehna.

Couch: The Simpsons rush in - and the sofa falls through the floor.

And introducing: Mayor Quimby, Jasper.

Trivia:

  • Homer makes Bart watch Gorilla the Conqueror.
  • We get to see Bart playing the video game Escape From Grandma's House.

Itchy and Scratchy in: 'Let Them Eat Scratchy'.

Notes: Edna Krabappel comes into her own here, dreading getting stuck with Bart and yet relishing his failures. Of course, seven years on, and they're all still in the fourth grade, but that's cartoons.

A cracking opener to the second season - especially memorable for the sequence in which Bart prays for school to be cancelled the following day only to find himself exiled from the ensuing winter wonderland.
