Car wars between Homer and his brother.
Episode 7F16
Written by Jeff Martin
Directed by Wes Archer
Also starring: Pamela Hayden, Maggie Roswell
Special guest voice: Danny DeVito (as Herb)
Premise: Homer tracks down his long-lost half brother, Herb Powell. Herb is a millionaire car manufacturer, a success that Homer certainly isn't. Convinced that Homer's common touch can give him the edge over his competitors, Herb allows Homer to design a car for the average guy.
Features: Wolfcastle (as McBain), Jasper, Grampa, Dr Hibbert.
Couch: The Simpsons, minus Maggie, rush in and sit down and Maggie peeks out of Marge's hair.
Trivia:
- We see the best McBain movie - and learn that he'll be back in You Have the Right to Remain Dead.
- The orphanage director has a long-lost twin brother - and he bears more than a passing resemblance to Dr Julius Hibbert, in which case they may have another brother, Bleedin' Gums Murphy (see Round Springfield).
Homage: The line, 'As far as I'm concerned, I have no brother', comes from The Godfather (Francis Ford Coppola, 1973).
Itchy and Scratchy in: Sundae Bloody Sundae.
Notes: Although it's inevitable that Homer's car will be a disaster, the joy of this episode is anticipating exactly what sort of disaster. Herb Powell returns in Brother, Can You Spare Two Dimes.
